3 Simple Tips On How To Use This Weekend To Stress Proof Your Week
How do you think Indiana Jones feels when he comes into work Monday? Sad, depressed, lethargic, with a huge dread about the coming work week, or does he feel energized about the coming week and on top of the world from his weekend’s exploits? I’d say that it’s the latter. Here are 3 easy tips to help you go to work Monday feeling like Indiana Jones:
Do Something Real
Yeah, we all know that you need to sit in front of the TV to “unwind”, but it does more harm than good to sit in front of the TV for more than an hour on the weekend (in fact, my own TV isn’t even hooked up and I only use it for videos). The trick to feeling on top of the world is to mix up your routine. Instead of sitting in front of the “box” this weekend, do something memorable like going hiking with your friends or family, going to the beach, or challenging yourself with an especially hard interval training session.
Expand Your Comfort Zone
Indiana Jones feels calm, content, and self confident on Monday because over the weekend, he completed something he never knew he could do. Be like Indiana Jones and expand your comfort zone. If you’re afraid of the water, try going day sailing with someone experienced. Hike in a place that’s a little bit difficult for you (just remember to bring enough food and water as well as a compass and a buddy). Back in the army, when we were let off the base after killing ourselves in training, we felt on top of the world. After all, we had learned that we could do things that we never imagined we were capable of, and we felt on top of the world. The trick to feeling good on Monday is to challenge yourself over the weekend so that you’re full of self confidence and good feelings about yourself from knowing that you challenged yourself and overcame obstacles while everyone else was watching TV.
Don’t Tell Anyone About It
Indiana Jones does amazing feats and has crazy adventures, and then on top of it, he keeps it to himself. The trick to really feeling on top of the world Monday is to start doing more challenging activities and sports and then not to tell anyone about the change you’ve made in your life. You’re great accomplishments and knowledge of your willpower will be your own little secret, something that you’re proud of but have no need of sharing with anyone except those who have lived the experiences with you (feel free to share them though after a set amount of time has passed and it makes you look really good). Then when you face those little stresses during the week, they’ll seem insignificant to you. After all, you’re no ordinary person, and you can handle it.
There you have it, those are the 3 simple tips you need to use this weekend to stress proof your week. Do you have any tricks you use to relieve stress during the week and energize your life? Leave a comment and let me know!

excellent advice. Much better than the previously widespread belief of 25 cruntches for each half hour of tube watched. I find it energizing to combine speed with my own exertion. Nothing like a rollerblade down a smooth incline on a sunny day
